The Donau Auen is around 10.000 hectares of national park in the east of Austria with still pristine nature. It has a length of 38 km and is situated alongside the Danube from Vienna and Lower Austria to the border of Slovakia. The following parts of the Donau Auen might be just listed as examples: the Lobau in Vienna, the villages Orth an der Donau and Eckartsau with their two castles and also Hainburg, which is not far from Slovakia. The fauna and flora in the national park is really worth preserving – a great diversity of different plants, breeding bird species, mammals and reptiles, amphibians and fish species can be found. Tourists can select different hiking or boat tours, excursions with specified topics and many more.
