The National Park Kalkalpen belongs to the Pre-Alps region of Upper Austria. The most famous villages are Windischgarsten, Roßleithen and St. Pankraz. The National Park has been awarded UNESCO world heritage for beech forests. Consequently the region is rather famous for summer tourism, especially hiking and cross country biking.
