The region around Obertauern (including Untertauern and Tweng), is very popular with winter sports, Obertauern however stands out as a Hot Spot in the province of Salzburg. A vibrant night life is guaranteed with around 1.000.000 overnight stays per year – 95 % in wintertime – this is really an impressive number and shows how popular this region is – even more so if we consider the fact the mountain village has a general population of less than 200 inhabitants! Of course there are also possibilities for cross-country skiing or tobogganing. The region is also wonderful in summertime – however, because of the very secure snow conditions the winter season is the dominant season for tourism.
