There are people who prefer Vienna or Graz. But for some people Salzburg is clearly the most beautiful town in Austria. It is the capital of the equally named province of Salzburg (with around 160.000 inhabitants) and world famous as the birth town of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. A description is not easy as you don’t know where to start. An enumeration is easier: UNESCO world heritage, Festung Hohensalzburg, the yearly cultural highlight “Salzburger Festspiele”, The sound of Music (the world famous cult musical with Julie Andrews in the main role won 5 Oscars), Castle Mirabell, the famous Getreidegasse and many sight seeing points more. Salzburg is a place of superlatives which must not be missed!
