The south of Carinthia is a region consisting of 7 smaller lake sides, the “biggest” and most famous of them are the Klopeiner See and the Turnersee. Because of the mild climate in this part of Austria these alpine lakes are supposed to be the warmest natural lakes in Europe (up to 29 degrees in summertime) with drinking water quality. The Klopeiner See has the only continuous beach promenade in Austria (not interrupted by different properties) with very attractive gastronomic offers around the lake. Also the Carinthian capital Klagenfurt is not far away. Very nice hiking and cycling trails as well as interesting canyon and cave exploring, beautiful waterfalls and fun activities for kids make this region one of the most popular summer holiday destinations in Austria.
