78. Südsteirische Weinstrasse

In total there are 8 identified wine routes in Styria, by far the most famous is the idyllic Südsteirische Weinstrasse, which is located alongside the Slovenian border. By the way: only in 4 of the 9 Austrian provinces are there recognized wine production – in Styria, Lower Austria, Vienna and Burgenland. However, the wines of all 4 provinces reach world class level, especially for white wines! Along these routes the vintners are offering their products to traders and other wine lovers, but also tourists may test the wines and other regional specialties in the wine cellars of the farmers. Specifically, Styria is the best province in Austria for the production of Sauvignon Blanc.
