The Zugspitze is a mountain shared between the countries Germany and Austria. With a height of almost 3.000 m it is the highest mountain of Germany. The region consists of 7 villages, all of which offer an amazing view to the Zugspitze (not included the most famous village, which is on the german side: Garmisch-Partenkirchen with its downhill race). Skiing, Nordic skiing, hiking, mountain climbing and mountain biking can be an exciting experience next to this mountain. Special recommendation: the Drachensee (“dragon lake”) with an elevation of 1.900 m in the surrounding of the Coburger hut. If you happen to be there in June, don’t miss the celebration of the solstice on the Zugspitze and adjacent mountains! It is not only immaterial UNESCO world heritage, it’s an unforgettable experience as well!
