The Virgental is another valley in the beautiful Osttirol within the so called Venedigergruppe, a group of mountains with the Großvenediger as one of the highest mountains of Austria with an elevation of 3.674 m. Its most famous villages are Virgen, Prägraten and Matrei at the edge of the valley. Breathe fresh air taking nature experiences far away from mass tourism like the famous Umbal waterfalls – in wintertime the romantic skiing area of Matrei (or the nearby Kals which is, however, no longer belonging to the Virgental), perfect for families!
