The region Zell am See-Kaprun in the province of Salzburg is one of the most important skiing and touristic areas in Austria. For Zell am See summer tourism is equally important. Beautiful cycling and hiking trails, but also bathing in the Zeller See attracts the tourists in the region. Very popular is also para- or hang gliding from the local mountain, the “Schmittenhöhe”. In contrast, Kaprun has a stronger focus on winter tourism, because of the fact that the glacier around the famous Kitzsteinhorn mountain enables skiing all around the year apart from a 4 weeks maintenance period. In summertime beautiful gorges are waiting to be explored, e.g. the Sigmund Thun Klamm.
