The Gailtaler Alpen are belonging to the southern Eastalps and are touching the provinces of Carinthia and Tyrol, more precisely Osttirol with the Lienzer Dolomiten. The most famous villages are Lienz, Sillian, Kötschach and Hermagor and at its eastern edge the city of Villach. The region is a paradise for hikers and cyclists.
