The Almtal is located at the east end of the Salzkammergut near the Traunsee and the dead mountains. It is part of Upper Austria. The Almtal is famous for its pure, untouched nature, mostly wooded areas and an extraordinary flora and fauna, not to mention the cristal clear and blue-green mountain lakes. Maybe this is the reason why the well known animal behaviorist Konrad Lorenz once decided to live there. It is a typical area for summer activities like hiking, cycling or mountain biking or climbing – the famous Salzkammergut lakes are easy to reach. It’s most famous village is the mountaineering village Grünau.
