The Mostviertel is one of 4 quarters of the province of Lower Austria. It is located south of the Danube and west of the Wienerwald. Its capital St. Pölten is also located in the quarter. The region is characterized by its charming hillsides, the southern parts even show alpine regions with its most famous mountain, the Ötscher. Typical for the landscape is the spring blossoms of the pear trees and numerous riversides and a natural mountain lake, the Lunzer See. Ideal activities are biking (e.g. Ybbstal-Radweg, esp. Waidhofen an der Ybbs) and hiking.
