The Pitztal is a valley in the Ötztaler Alps, parallel to the Ötztal in the south of Imst in Tyrol. Although the villages in the Pitztal are not as famous as in other regions of Tyrol, there is one big attraction in the valley: it is the skiing area with the highest elevation in Austria, on the highest glacier in Tyrol, with the highest cable car leading there (over 3.400 m). This enables skiing from September until June every year – which is of utmost importance for ski racers, but also other ski enthusiasts who enjoy this opportunity. 2 of the 4 villages are pure winter villages, the other 2 also attract summer tourists who treasure the seclusion of the valley.
