The Tennengau is one of 5 parts (the so called Gaue) of the province of Salzburg. The region is identical with the political district Hallein, which is the regional capital and worth visiting. Other well known villages are Abtenau or Kuchl. The Tennengau is located in the south of its province capital Salzburg, north of the Dachstein Region. Popular activities are mountain biking and of course hiking, in wintertime there are smaller skiing areas, suitable for families.
