The Wildschönau is a remote high valley in the Kitzbüheler Alpen in the province of Tyrol consisting of 4 villages including Thierbach, in the neighborhood of the Alpbachtal. By connecting the two regions the resulting area has succeeded in becoming one of the top ten skiing areas in Tyrol. But still the region is dominated by traditional, Tyrolian farmers and one will struggle to find mass tourism there. In summertime the region is very much suitable for families – e.g. hiking through gorges like the beautiful Kundler Klamm, which may easily be managed by children and is reachable by a small panorama train.
