The region around the Achensee is located in the east of the Karwendel mountains and is used both for winter and summer tourism. The Achensee is Tyrol’s largest lake with a length of 9 km and a depth of up to 140 m. In winter time the region is popular above all with families due to the family friendly ski slopes. Summer tourists crave the typical sports activities in Tyrol – hiking, cycling, mountain climbing and of course several kinds of water sports, as the water and wind conditions are excellent due to the position of the lake. Those who also want to enjoy a bath in the lake should be prepared: as a typical mountain lake the water temperature will not exceed 20 degrees, even in the hot summer season.
