The Tuxer Alps are part of the central East Alps in the province Tyrol near Innsbruck. They are named after the village Tux and the Tuxertal, which is part of the Zillertal. A famous village is Hochfügen, famous mountains are Kellerjoch or Patscherkofel, which is the local mountain of the capital Innsbruck. The region is famous for hiking – the “dream path München – Venedig” is warmly recommended, with a couple of nice alpine huts for resting.
