The Allgäuer Alpen are part of the North East Alps and are located east of the Bodensee. This part of the Alps borders Bavaria in Germany as well as Tyrol and Vorarlberg in Austria. Similarly to the Achensee Region the Allgäuer Alpen are typical for family tourists – apart from the rather small skiing area, tourists find opportunities for e.g. cross-country skiing as well as tobogganing. And in summer time hiking, cycling, mountain climbing, as well as water sports such as canyoning and rafting. More adrenaline based sports such as para- and hang gliding exist for the adventurers.
