The Pinzgau is one of 5 parts (the so called Gaue) of the province of Salzburg. The region is identical with the district Zell am See (regional capital). Apart from its capital Salzburg city the Pinzgau is the most important part for tourism in the province of Salzburg, with a lot of famous centres for winter and summer tourism: Zell am See, Kaprun, Saalfelden, Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Leogang and others. Excellent skiing areas and also top attractions for the summer months like the Krimmler waterfalls in the Salzburger part of the Hohe Tauern (also check Gerlos Region) or the Großglockner Hochalpenstraße (a beautiful alpine road leading to the peak of the highest mountain in Austria). But also taking a bath in the Zeller See in the noble city of Zell am See (or other mountain lakes) can be a fantastic experience. Frequently one can admire the beautiful Kitzsteinhorn mountain in the background.
